This year's Southwestern Division Convention Options

This year's Southwestern Division Convention will be at the Earl Warren
Showgrounds, on the north side of the 101 freeway in western Santa
Barbara on Saturday, August 15, from 08:00 to 17:00 (swapmeet setup
begins 06:00). Convention specifics, including registration and hotel
information, are at http://www.sbarc.org. Early registration
bonus is available until August 1, and both mail-in and on-line
registration are provided.

Speakers include Dr. Kate Hutton, KD6HTN, of the Caltech Seismology
Department. ARRL General Consul Chris Imlay, W3KD, will discuss antenna
issues. Attorney Len Shafer, WA6QHD, who has represented Amateur
Radio's interests in the Palmdale litigation will also be present. QSL
card checking for DXCC and WAS awards will be available. The ARRL forum
will discuss recent happenings, and be a chance to express your
thoughts on ARRL policies.

Registration includes the barbecue tri-tip and chicken lunch.
Registration also includes free admission to the home show in the
building next door. The ham radio swap meet will be outdoors in a
grassy area, and is free for sellers.
